Alpine Fitness Retreat: Deer Valley, Utah : Gear List

We want you to be fully equipped to enjoy your vacation in the mountains. While the climate in the Wasatch Mountains during the summer is typically dry and warm, weather can be harsh and change suddenly. Plan for warm afternoons and cool evenings, but be prepared for rain or high temperatures. Being prepared with the proper clothing, footwear, gear, and hydration is critical for optimum physical performance and your safety.

Gear List:


Clothing and Shoes

  1. Hiking boots or shoes with ankle support (Break them in first!)
  2. Hiking shorts
  3. Light-weight pants (wicking/quick dry fabrics for comfort)
  4. Long and short sleeved shirts (wicking/quick dry fabrics for layering)
  5. Fleece jacket (for layering)
  6. Rain gear (Gore-Tex or other waterproof/breathable fabric)
  7. Biker shorts (Padded seat for comfort)
  8. Biker jersey (You may want several)
  9. Socks (7-8 pair of synthetic, hiking and biking-specific socks)
  10. Undergarments (wicking, quick dry fabrics)
  11. Casual clothes for hanging out in Park City and the Inn


Sun Protection

  1. Sunscreen
  2. Sunglasses
  3. Wide-brimmed hat
  4. Lip Balm


Technical Gear

  1. Cycling shoes, pedals, and gloves (bikes will NOT be equipped with pedals to fit cycling shoes) if you want to be technical
  2. Bicycle helmet (included with the bike rental)
  3. Daypack with water hydration system or holsters for water bottles
  4. Trekking/walking poles (optional)
  5. Basic First Aid kit including band-aids and moleskin*


* Sol Fitness Adventures Guides are equipped with a comprehensive first aid kit in case of accidents or emergencies; however, you may prefer to have your own stash of band aids and moleskin for quick access and care of common blisters and scrapes.

NO FIREARMS or WEAPONS allowed on our trips! We know it’s the wild west, but please leave these items at home. Weapons will be confiscated and held until the end of the trip.
